Global Service Center

A member of the SPC Electronic Group

Established in 1988 SPC Electronics America’s repair center has proven to be a very cost effective means for high volume test and repair of satellite communication equipment produced by all major suppliers. Product lines include VSAT outdoor units (ODU’s), Block Up Converters (BUCs), Low-Noise Block Down Converters (LNBs), power amplifiers, fixed microwave transmitters and frequency multipliers.

Our repair facility in Norcross, Georgia is equipped with the latest Microwave and RF test instrumentation, automated test stations, jigs and tools and a full suite of environmental chambers.

Our expertise and equipment capability covers the frequency spectrum up to 50GHz. We can provide custom automated test software to ensure accurate and efficient verification of your company’s device specifications.

VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal)

VSAT (very small aperture terminal) is a two-way satellite ground station. VSATs are most commonly used to transmit narrowband data (point of sale transactions such as credit card, polling or RFID data; or SCADA), or broadband data (for the provision of satellite Internet access to remote locations, VoIP or video).

BUC (Block Upconverter)

A block upconverter (BUC) is used in the transmission (uplink) of satellite signals. It converts a band of frequencies from a lower frequency to a higher frequency. BUCs are generally used in conjunction with low-noise block converters (LNB). The BUC, being an up-converting device, makes up the “transmit” side of the system.

LNB (Low-Noise Block)

The LNB is a combination of low-noise amplifier, frequency mixer, local oscillator and IF amplifier. It receives the microwave signal from the satellite collected by the dish, amplifies it, and downconverts the block of frequencies to a lower block of intermediate frequencies (IF).
